PRIMARY PURPOSE

Lead/manage the software testing activities and documentation of Libraries and other Software tools

Requirements

- BS and 10+ years experience

- Minimum of 3 years in leadership role in software testing with a strong ability to lead, mentor, and manage a software test team and establish the process for software testing discipline that can cater to the diverse needs of internal customers

- Experience in Linux / Windows; configuring test servers and workstations in order to ensure appropriate test environment

- Experience testing C/C++ /Java applications as well as libraries and APIs

- Working knowledge of C/C++/Java/FORTRAN, Perl or other scripting languages

- Extensive demonstrated experience and familiarity with the test development and execution process

- Must have strong and recent test automation experience in a new product development environment. Experience in architecting and implementing GUI automation and performance/stress testing is highly desirable

- Experience with testing at different levels (unit, functional, integration, system, load and performance testing)

- Experience with automation tools such as WinRunner, LoadRunner, QuickTest Pro, or Squish a plus

- Experience with ad-hoc testing of end user applications, finding hard-to-reproduce problems, and being able to recreate the problem to demonstrate the issues and bugs to developers

- Experience with configuration management and defect management tools

- Thorough understanding of writing bugs with clear and concise steps to reproduce the problem

- Extensive experience with evaluating test results, troubleshooting problems down to a minimal example of the problem, reporting the issues found, and driving them to resolution

- Experience with the build process, makefiles, packaging process, installers etc.

- Experience with floating point math and common scientific applications are a plus

- Knowledge in web applications and database scripting; knowledge of PHP is desirable

- The ability to grasp concepts quickly and reduce them to practice with minimal supervision in a fast paced new product development environment is essential

- Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills

- Strong team player who is proficient at time management and multitasking and is able to meet deadlines and handle changing priorities

Responsibilities

- Lead a software test team

- Develop strategy for test automation

- Develop and maintain test automation frameworks

- Evaluate and recommend automated testing tools

- Develop documentation to facilitate usage of test automation framework

- Write structured test plans for manual and/or automated testing

- Create and execute manual and/or automated test cases based on test strategy and test plans

- Maintain up to date test results and reports

- Identify and manage defects

- Monitor and report status

- Work closely with software engineers to drive problems to resolutions

- Assure quality of the developed software
