Job Description - Maintaining a detailed database of special situations
- Watching the news and UBS research flagging which ones are worth persuing in detail and writing those up. This is one example of where the tenacity/intellectual curiosity/problem solving comes in - sometimes this part of the job will require trying to get to the bottom of a situation (eg the taking of a strategic stake) and understand it and think about whether it has any implications (eg that it implies a bid)
- Writing some of the Corporate Change/Special Situations news
- Assembling information and charts on M&A, LBOs, shareholder activism, buy-backs, spins offs
- Maintaining a large financial information/valuation spreadsheet (already created)
- Maintaining the existing spreadsheet for our Corporate Change - Conduct industry and competitor analysis
- Conduct Sum of the Parts, DCF and leveraged buy-out valuations
- Research and locate information that can help differentiate our product
Desired Profile - good problem solving skills - an ability to navigate through intellectual bottlenecks
- good financial analytical and modelling skills
commercial understanding of our business, so as to have some sense of what issues, news and UBS research relating to stocks are important and which are unimportant
