Principal Test Engineer
Job Description
- Lead and mentor a small group of engineers.- Develop and refine comprehensive test plans and test strategies for post-silicon analog electrical (physical layer or 'PHY') parameters of high-speed SerDes (Serializer and Deserializer) circuits contained within complex mixed-signal ASICs.- Optimize PHY electrical bench test methodologies and procedures per industry standards, for GbE, 10GbE , XAUI (IEEE 802.3), SONET or SDH OC-48, OC-192, OTN (ITU-T G.709), Hypertransport, PCI-Express, Serial ATA, and Serial Attached SCSI.- Perform post-silicon bench testing of analog electrical parameters of high-speed broadband mixed-signal ASICs. - Train junior engineers.- Generate and review comprehensive test reports and analysis.- Participate in development and implementation of test automation.- Collaborate with IC design team on failure or performance issue analysis and root-cause.
Desired Profile
Qualifications:- BSEE (MSEE preferred) with 6+ year minimum working experience in high-speed broadband communication post-silicon analog test environment.- Recent working experience in developing and performing post-silicon electrical tests of analog parameters of high-speed broadband mixed-signal ASICs using laboratory bench equipment and/or Automatic Test Equipment.- Strong analog background/experience.- Familiarity with SerDes test methods and test standards, particularly with respect to analog electrical parameter compliance testing of the following industry standards: 10GbE / XAUI (IEEE 802.3ae), OC-48 & OC-192 (SONET/SDH), OTN (ITU-T G.709), Hypertransport, PCI-Express, Serial ATA, and Serial Attached SCSI.- Understand the operation and principles of the following high speed laboratory equipment - digital oscilloscopes, vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, bit error rate testers, waveform generators, and function/pulse generators.- Excellent communication and technical writing skills.- Understand the fundamentals of RF and/or high-speed broadband communication transmitters and receivers, filters, PLLs, CDRs, ADCs, DCAs, AGCs, and equalizers.
